Last year we went to Ashland to try out the skiing on Mount Ashland and also catch some theatre. It was so good, we decided to go again with Paul and Debra, Anne and Andy. It’s a 6hr drive to Ashland and we drove up to Williams on the Wednesday just to get a head start the next day. Horrible rain and wind but at least the roads were not busy. Thursday we stopped at Redding for a late breakfast/lunch and checked the weather reports as it had been snowing the day before. Lots more snow! There was chain inspection 10 miles outside Redding (where you are asked if you are carrying chains) and then chain control 10 miles south of Dunsmuir (where they check you have put them on or in our case, you have 4wd). It was coming down thick and we took 2 hours more than usual to get from Redding to Ashland.
Once again, we were all booked into the Plaza Inn Suites. The others managed to get to Ashland for dinner and then we headed to “Measure for Measure”. A rarely performed play, it was set in the 1970’s (great fashion) and they had a female mariachi band, The Colibras (Hummingbirds) performing during the performance.
